No more heroes has been lauded as the edgy, creative, adult game the Wii needs to hold the attention of non-casual-gamers and keep us from leaving our Wiis to gather dust while we play our 360s. Well it could have done that, if not for the problems.
Don’t get me wrong, No More Heroes is like if Quentin Taratino and ShinichirÅ Watanabe got together and made an anime. But as I was playing I began to question why they didn’t just make No More Heroes an anime in the first place. The game is in love with its characters and cutscenes but there are strong signs of neglect in other areas.

This game… isn’t really a game. It’s a… I don’t know what it is. But what it is, is, is neat. Sure I probably won’t buy Endless Ocean (known as "Forever Blue" in Japan which is a much better title so why didn’t they use it here?) right away, but I did rent it to see what it was all about. I do like swimming, and I love the sea, though I’ve never been scuba diving for inherent fear of the bends. Endless Ocean will at least give you a pretty good idea of the experience.

I’ve finally managed to get the hang of Dead Rising, and yes I’m fully aware Dead Rising came out like 2 years ago but I didn’t get a 360 until fairly recently and it’s my blog, I write what I want!
I always said if I ever got a 360 I’d have to play the "zombie mall game" so purchased Dead Rising with the attitude of a chortling 15 year old boy expecting a mindless free-for-all type fair where I’d merely be picking up a hilarious variety of items and bashing zombies until the game said I was done. And that’s certainly how the game was advertised, and it seems they had good reason for the misleading campaign. As it turns out you can’t just run around willy-nilly bludgeoning zombies, you also have to deal with survivors, government agents, and a series of criminally insane people running around the mall you spend the game trapped in. You’re also on a tight schedule and if you miss the time of any of the main plot events the game punishes you by closing off the rest of the plot and offering to let you start all over again.
Or at least, also from your last save, which due to the scarcity of save points could have been so far back it’s just better to start again with your current level and inventory.
Dead Rising seems like it is a game thats intended for multiple playthroughs seeing as you really can save your current level and stuff and start all over from the beginning if you die or mess everything up, and once you skip all the cutscenes everything can go by kind of quickly.

I’m a little ashamed to admit to even owning this game, to tell you the truth. And I’m sure it’s the last one people expected me to ever, ever talk about. Well some time ago I decided I could maybe get in shape the geeky way (since I can never seem to work out without some sort of structure), Wii Sports wasn’t really doing it for me and I’m waiting to see critics weigh in on the effectiveness of Wii Fit before investing in such a thing, so naturally I decided a DDR game that makes you move your hands with the Wiimote and Nunchuck as well as hobble around on your awkward, rhythmless feet would offer an optimal full-body workout.
Let me start by clarifying that I’ve only done the Workout Mode (as thats what I bought it for.) My brother, however, decided he wanted to try it too and then refused to give both it and my Wii back for the night. But at least he unlocked some more songs and venues for me. I not only decided to get the Wii version, as opposed to the 360 version, for the hand movements but the track list as well. This one features songs like 99 Red Balloons, You Spin Me Round, Karma Chameleon and Blue Monday, techno remixed of course and mostly covers, but hey, at least its not bubblegum pop. I understand DDR fanatics hate the track list but if I’m going to fail at DDR I might as well fail to songs I like.

I’m just making a short post to inform you all of something I’ve been enjoying immensely as of late. A funny British man known only as "Yahtzee" has rocketed to internets super-stardom within the video game community with his irreverent reviews, thrashing games in a hilarious and witty manner even if he enjoys them.
I was introduced to these brilliant little videos by a bitter and crusty PC gamer I know who was mocking my love of Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect and myself overall for being a stupid, console-loving plebian. So if you want to enjoy some video game reviews that are far, far, far funnier and more foul-mouthed than mine, click here.
Speaking of video game reviews perhaps I should do some more. Or write about something else for a change.
