Comic Updates & Stuff

Posted by MangaPunkSai on June 11, 2007

So yesterday while uploading my new comic, I realized my Creator Files collection was incomplete. Sorry, I’ve got no idea how that happened (except I was uploading things in bulk with zip files and it didn’t always go through), but all the comics are there now. They’re kinda lumped in a gallery, just like the Angel Omakes, so it’s a little hard to see where one begins and one ends. Just pay attention to the file names (and the last page always says "the end!")

Also, I’ve intended to do more AMV features, but ever since I upgraded to the most recent version of Windows Media Player the videos are not displaying properly onsite. This probably happens to other people viewing the site as well. So! I’ll have to figure a different embed code.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Manga Versus Anime

Posted by MangaPunkSai on June 9, 2007

Fullmetal Alchemist - Manga versus AnimeWARNING! HERE THERE BE SPOILERS!
also tl;dr

This is a huge rant I was writing on and off for some time: there’s not alot of stuff out there that can give me a serious case of nerd rage, but this is one of them: Fullmetal Alchemist the brilliant manga and its grossly subpar anime counterpart. I just heard some fangirl heads explode, but hear me out! Unless you don’t like spoilers, because I don’t care to dance around them and wish to make a solid case for why the Fullmetal Alchemist manga is superior and why it should be read. Please keep in mind this post is aimed at people already familiar with the series, although it may get you interested, and you may find it funny, you might be confused at some points!

Creationism

Posted by MangaPunkSai on June 6, 2007

Oh goodie. Some fuckwits spent $27 Million dollars on a Creationism Museum. I’m sorry, Christians, but the arrogant, irritating self-entitlement of some of your groups and sects out there is getting way out of control. Not only are there "good Christian" groups out there who want to literally take over the United States of America, but now there are plenty varieties of fundamentalists who follow the mentality of: "If I don’t want to believe the Earth revolves around the sun I don’t have to! Because the Bible said so!"

You may say, why not let these people just believe what they want to believe? That’s okay, but when they start spreading lies about Scientists not all agreeing that Evolution happened, or blatant misinformation stemming from their own gross misunderstanding of the process, and then start trying to teach this crap in our public schools under the guise of "Intelligent Design", I have a problem.

Wii Fitness?

Posted by MangaPunkSai on June 5, 2007

Wii SportsThey say that the Wii can offer genuine exercise and even inspire weight loss. As a chubby geek really in need of such a thing, I think I’ll be putting that to the test. I’ve resolved to play Wii Sports at least 45 minutes to an hour a day (preferably soon after I get up so I can wake up), and eat less (and perhaps better, I haven’t decided yet. Don’t take my muffins away!) and see what happens. I’ve been wanting to lose some weight for a while (well I have a little but more wouldn’t hurt), I’ve been meaning to excericse but like most Americans I’m too busy (read: lazy ass rat bastard.) I know this sounds like a completely geeky regimen for exercise but… what can I tell you? I am a geek. Besides, exercising in the comfort of your own home is nothing new, and I find this much better than watching Richard Simmons dance around in short shorts.

Where I’m not going to keep track of crazy charts and numbers like that one guy, I’ll at least check in over the rest of the year if I’ve seen any results. Now onto my thoughts about Wii Sports (as before today I’d only ever played the Bowling.)

Otakukin and Fictionkin

Posted by MangaPunkSai on June 4, 2007
I'm Link cat
Typical Otakukin cat.

It always amazes me the subcultures that have either developed or are heavily perpetuated because of the internets. Where normally I’d rant about fetishes and slashers and Suethors when it comes to internets dumbfuckery today I’m traversing even more bizarre territories.

If you’ve been on the internets for more than 2 months you probably know what an Otherkin is. You know, people who believe their soul is really that of a lithe and nimble elf, a sleek, muscular and powerful dragon, a spritely and delicate little fairy, and it was just by some cruel cosmic accident they were born into their heavy, sweaty, stinky, pimple-covered greasy shell. Yeah. And where it may sound like classic escapism, the lengths these people go to to insist/defend/believe this are mindblowingly crazy frightening.

But if you think that is crazy, just wait ’til I actually get to my subject of this post: People who think their soul is that of, they are the cross-dimensional reincarnation of, they are linked spiritually to… an anime or video game or otherwise fictional character.
