And so centuries after Limbo was introduced into Roman Catholicism it has been wrest back out again. Pope Ratzinger decided the concept was pretty dumb and seeks to nix it. Where normally I would be in favor of this sort of correction, seeing as Catholicism is full of notions and concepts that aren’t even supported by that book they all claim to read (although this goes for some other sects as well) and many misquote at people like me, I can’t help getting my blood boiled over the contradictory religion that billions of people in the world seem to think makes perfect sense. And where Christianity in general is, in my eyes, pretty messed up, Catholicism is just beyond weird.
So warning, the rest of this post will contain views that people may think of as "controversial", so don’t read on if you think it might piss you off.

"Hello, I’m a PC", "And I’m an elitist hipster douchebag"
We’ve all seen these ads on TV. A PC and a Mac personified as humans, the PC being a nerdy guy and the Mac being some 40 year old ad executive’s apparent perception of what the equivalent of the Fonz is these days. Now yes I’m probably an incredibly biased PC-lover considering that any time I’ve used a Mac they’ve driven me absolutely bonkers, but then again anything that’s so overly user friendly that it doesn’t just let you do what you want to fucking do always makes me nuts. This is why I use Adobe Photoshop rather than MGI Photosuite, for example.
Of course in my experience Macs always crash doing the simplest things, anyway. Like loading websites. And this was on OSX!
My bias aside, these commercials annoy me so goddamn much because of their vague claims and truthfully untruthful implications that are so obviously crafted to prey on the minds of the ignorant and technologically inept. And anytime someone ignores their own lack of virtues, instead opting for the ad hominem approach to promote themselves, it’s just fucking obnoxious. Oddly enough, the tone and suggestions of these commercials sounds exactly like all the Mac fanboys out there (not to mention Justin Long is quite nearly an unintentional satire of Mac fanboys themselves) who constantly bash PCs and hold their elitist, frosted-tipped heads high because they’re willing to shell out a couple thousand extra dollars for a computer with a fancier box that comes in 6 fabulous designer colors.

Screenshots all captured by me.
In ancient Rome the peoples’ idea of entertainment was watching two real live men fight to the death. And then sometimes they sicced a lion on the survivor. And yet we regard the Romans as one of the most sophisticated and civilized of the ancient cultures. My point is human civilization has emerged from very violent and bloodthirsty roots, and there was a time not that long ago when people were much more apathetic toward killing and death. Today there are no barbarian raids. There are no Crusades. There are no armed conflicts between small clans and tribes. There’s not even any hangings (well not in this country.) Most of us wouldn’t want such high-flying action in our lives, but we’ll gladly indulge the fantasy.
And yet here we are in the 2000’s blaming fictional depictions of violence for everything that happens. Specifically: video games.

Cyber Bullying, the happening new catchphrase for shock media stories and overprotective parenting. Increasingly the world is full of oversensitive people who can’t take a joke or any criticism whatsoever. And now the internet is getting full of them too. Instead of gently being convinced to GTFO by the meme-spouting, sarcastically sharp tongued, bitter and cynical lost souls who haunt the internet, saps all over the world are attempting to coerce the internet to conform to real world standards.
I say: fuck no.
If your kid is going to lock themself in their room and threaten to cut their wrists because someone called them fat on their MySpace page, your kid needs a good smack in the mouth. Forget ending "Cyber Bullying", I’d prefer to end "Cyber Pussyism".

Now considering my interests I do expect my Amazon.com recommendations to be rather… ecletic. I can’t deny that. However one day I was greeted with the above.
Geez you look once and they remind you of it forever. Real mature, Amazon.
